Expert Top Pick of the Day: Liberty Flames vs. Toledo Rockets

Top Pick of the Day

The Liberty Flames have had quite a successful season which has raised expectations. The Flames are now 8-4 and are just one step behind the top independent schools in Division I. With all games starting to wrap up, the Flames are ready to feature in the RoofClaim.Com Boca Raton Bowl this Tuesday night against the Toledo Rockets.

The Rockets finished at the same level as the Flames. The Rockets were second in the MAC West division. With an 8-5 season record, they tried to remain close to the top seeds.

However, winning became a clear challenge for the team halfway through the regular season. Now, the Rockets are all set to finish off strong in their last game of the season.

Liberty Flames vs. Toledo Rockets Schedule

  • Date: December 20, 2022
  • Time: 07:30 PM EST
  • Location: FAU Stadium, Boca Raton, FL

Bennet’s Flames Ready to Reverse Late Losing Streak

The Flames fell short of catching up with Notre Dame to lead as the top team of the FBS Independents. In short, it all came to the point balance each team recorded as both schools finished with an even 8-4 season record.

That placed the Flames relatively high and with enough motivation to correct a season that finished with three straight wins.

For the Flames, Jonathan Bennet was the single QB that led the team throughout much of the season. Bennet finished with 1,534 passing yards and 12 touchdown passes.

Finn’s Rockets Ready to Finish Off Strong

The Rockets also fell short of not leading in the standings. However, Toledo summed up one more win than Eastern Michigan in the conference.

Toledo has been inconsistent all season. In their last three games, Toledo finished with a 1-2 record and was still incapable of making the most of the previous stage of the regular season.

Now the team will rely on Dequan Finn’s passing game to keep the team sharp on the offensive side of the ball. Finn now leads Toledo with 2,127 passing yards and 22 touchdown pass connections.

Godds Pick or Prediction of the Game

The Flames finished the regular season with 222.0 passing yards, 178.2 rushing yards, and 28.4 points per game and gave up 24.9 points per contest. Some of Liberty’s per-game stats made it into the top 50 in the country, proving the team has been able to deliver solid performances while also finishing with substantial numbers.

As for Toledo, 227.8 passing yards and 178 rushing yards per game show that the Rockets’ offense is slightly more effective than the Flames. With a slight advantage, it all seems that the Rockets have what it takes to conquer the Boca Raton Bowl tonight.

Godds Pick/Prediction: The Rockets win, and the under hits.
