Alabama will face Georgia Monday night for all the marbles in college football’s National Championship game. Both teams finished the season with a 13-1 record overall. The Bulldogs will have their hands full trying to figure out how to win against the same team that dominated them in the SEC championship game 41-24 last month.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban will be seeking his seventh national title as coach of the Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs have had a difficult time making it this far. They won their last National Championship title in 1980.
The Crimson Tide are seeking their second straight National Championship on Monday night. The team would pick up its nineteenth championship in school history with a win.
Alabama is led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Bryce Young who threw for 421 yards and three touchdowns in their SEC Championship matchup. The Tide’s only loss this season was against Texas A&M.
A win for Alabama coach Nick Saban would give him his seventh National Championship with the Crimson Tide and his eighth overall, winning the title as the coach of LSU in 2003.
The Georgia Bulldogs seek their seventh National Championship and its first since 1980. In this game, the team needs to find a way to be victorious over the team that handed them their only loss of the season in the SEC Championship game. Quarterback Stetson Bennett is the leader of this team, and whether they win or lose will be squarely on his shoulders.
Bennett threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns the last time these two teams met but threw two interceptions which were costly for his team. Georgia came into the game as favorites in this matchup but couldn’t do enough to get the victory. The key for them to win on Monday is to protect the ball and do as much as possible to contain Bryce Young by putting more pressure on the quarterback.
In Alabama’s last ten games vs. Georgia, the total has gone over nine times, and the total has gone under for Alabama in four of their last six games.
For Georgia, the total has gone under in seven of their last ten games, and they are 0-7 straight up against Alabama the previous seven times these two teams have played each other.
The odds are in Georgia’s favor, even though they haven’t beaten Alabama in their last seven tries and were dominated by the Tide in their previous matchup.
As long as Georgia protects the ball and plays solid defense, they should finally be able to come out victorious against their biggest rival.
