Expert Top Picks of the Day: San Francisco 49ers vs. Tennessee Titans

Expert Top Picks of the Day: San Francisco 49ers vs. Tennessee Titans

The San Francisco 49ers will come into Thursday night’s contest, having won two in a row and four of their last five games. They are in second place in the NFC West behind the Rams and Cardinals, who are tied at 10-4 for the division lead. They currently hold the sixth playoff spot ahead of three teams at 7-7 who must battle for the final playoff position.

After winning six games in a row, the Tennessee Titans have lost three of their last four games but still lead the surging Colts by one game for the lead in the AFC South at 9-5. They need a win to keep some distance between themselves and the five teams below them in the standings with 8-6 records.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Tennessee Titans Schedule

  • Date: December 23, 2021
  • Time: 08:20 PM EST
  • Location: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN

49ers Must Keep Their Momentum

The 49ers have been playing consistent football lately and must keep their winning momentum with only three games left on the schedule. QB Jimmy Garoppolo has been having a good season, throwing for 3,172 yards and 18 touchdowns.

These are solid numbers in that he has been protecting the ball, with only eight interceptions this season, and has a QB rating of 100.7. His favorite target is WR Deebo Samuel, who has 1,088 yards receiving and five touchdowns this season. George Kittle is also a force on offense with 850 yards and six touchdowns.

Titans Must Protect The Ball

With the absence of their All-Pro running back Derrick Henry keeping the offense moving, The Titans have been struggling to advance the ball. Without him in the lineup, they have to limit their turnovers and play solid defense as the offense will not be very explosive. They hope to still be in the playoff hunt by Week-18 when Henry is expected to return.

QB Ryan Tannehill hasn’t been putting up big numbers this season and has recently struggled with turnovers. He has over 3,000 yards passing this season with 14 touchdowns and has 14 interceptions. The Titans had four turnovers in their loss to Pittsburgh last Sunday, when their offense was shut out in the second half.

San Francisco 49’ers vs. Tennessee Titans Odds Comparison

The 49ers come into this game 5-1 against the spread in their last six games and are 6-2 straight up in their previous eight games on the road. Tennessee is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and the total has gone under in four of their last six games.

  • DraftKings has the 49ers winning at -170 on a spread of -3, and the game total is 44.5.
  • FanDuel has the 49ers winning at -186 on a spread of -3.5, and the total is 44.

Godds Pick or Prediction of the Game

Without AJ Brown and Derrick Henry in the game for the Titans, it’s going to be another tough day for the offense. There’s a chance that Brown will be reactivated off injured reserve and, if he is, it will be a big help.

However, the 49ers have been on a roll lately. It doesn’t seem like this Tennessee team is the one that is going to put an end to their solid play as of late.

  • Godds Pick/Prediction: 49ers to win, and the total stays under.
