Expert Pick of the Day: Tampa Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles

Expert Pick of the Day: Tampa Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head up north to take on the Philadelphia Eagles today. At 2-3, the Eagles aren’t off to a great start, and this is likely another Bucs victory.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming into the match as favorites, priced around -300 to win the match, while Philadelphia Eagles are around +230 to upset the Buccaneers.

The spread is set at 6.50 points at all major bookmakers, with the Buccaneers a small favorite over the Eagles to cover the spread. The Over/Under line is currently set at 52.50 points with almost even odds for both options.

Tampa Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles Schedule

  • Date: October 14
  • Time: 8:20 PM ET
  • Location: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA

Tampa Buccaneers in Business Behind Brady

The Encore continues with Tom Brady and company. Tampa Bay has scored 45 or more points in five of its last 15 games dating back to last season. In the 698 games in franchise history prior to that, the team only had five total games with 45 or more total points. The Bucs dropped one game this year but are looking to pick up their second consecutive win tonight.

Rob Gronkowski will need at least one more week of recovery before he’s able to take the field. He has been ruled out of today’s game against Philly due to an injury to his ribs that has bothered him since Week 3. The Bucs announced the decision on Gronkowski’s status following Wednesday’s practice, and this will be the third game in a row Gronkowski has missed.

Linebacker Lavonte David and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. are also out due to injury and haven’t practiced this week.

Philadelphia Eagles Hurting for a Win

Jalen Hurts rushed for two touchdowns in Philadelphia’s 21-18 win over Carolina. Hurts is the first quarterback with two rushing touchdowns in a win for Philadelphia since Mike Vick in 2010. The struggle more than likely will continue for an Eagles team that is not clicking on all cylinders.

The Eagles’ run defense ranks in the bottom-third in the NFL this season. However, they have a top-ten passing defense, which could play against the Bucs and Gronkowski’s absence. As Leonard Fournette continues to prove himself as the lead back, he has another opportunity to prove himself tonight.

The Eagles are going to be without several players on offense, and their absences will be felt. Lane Johnson is likely out, and Brandon Brooks is on injured reserve. Isaac Seumalo is out for the season, and Dallas Goedert was just added to the COVID/reserve list on Tuesday.

Tampa Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles Odds Comparison

This should be a similar game to the Kansas City Chiefs game. The Chiefs went to Philly in Week 4, and Chiefs were giving -7 points to the Eagles, and the Chiefs covered the spread 42-30.

The Bucs are way more talented than the Chiefs overall. Both teams are coming off a short week, and there are some injuries from both sides, but Brady and company won’t let off the gas pedal just yet. Jalen Hurts is not consistent, and the Bucs defense is way better than the Chiefs Defense.

  • DraftKings has the Bucs winning by far at -290, with the Eagles getting +230. The spread is 6.5, and the Over/Under is currently 52.5.
  • FanDuel is similar, giving the Bucs -275 and the Eagles +225. The spread and total are the same as DraftKings’ predictions.
  • Caesars Sportsbook puts Tampa way out in front at -300 to the Eagles’ +233. The spread is 7, but the Over/under is 52.5

Godds Pick or Prediction of the Game

Lay the points and get the -6.5 if you can. If you get the line at 7.5 or more, it might be worth it to consider the Eagles. If it’s at -7, it’s a possible push.

It isn’t likely that the Eagles can win at home here against the defending champs. The Bucs have a killer offense, as well. This will not be a close game.

  • Godds Pick/Prediction: The Bucs win by more than a touchdown, and the Over survives.
