Expert Top Pick of the Day: LA Rams vs Seattle Seahawks

Expert Top Pick of the Day: LA Rams vs Seattle Seahawks

The Rams are 3-1 and head into tonight’s game, having defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Nothing says victory quite like defeating the reigning Super Bowl Champions, which they did in NFL Week 3, and the Rams are starting to show signs of being contenders for this year’s title.

The Seahawks have two straight wins after getting off to a sluggish start and need another win to boost their spirits. They have a couple of interesting matchups coming after tonight’s game and will need to find all the motivation they can to stay strong this season.

This is the only time Seattle will play a Thursday Night game this season and, since it’s at home, they will want to make the most of it. It’s time to see if those new Action Green uniforms will do their magic. Unfortunately, injuries might present a problem and diminish their chances of winning.

LA Rams vs Seattle Seahawks Schedule

  • Date: October 7
  • Time: 5:20 PM PT
  • Location: Lumen Field, Seattle, WA

LA Rams Out For Repeat

The last time the Rams and the Seahawks met on the field was January 9 of this year. That game, just like tonight’s, was played at Lumen Field. That was a Wild Card game for a shot at the Super Bowl, which the Rams took away from Seattle with a 30-20 win. This year is beginning to look like the Rams will be able to repeat, with strong performances on both sides of the ball.

The Rams are sixth in points per game this season, with 28.8. They’re going up against a defense that is struggling in every game and which ranks among the weakest in the NFL this season. Having defeated the Bucs said a lot about the team’s efforts this year, and that same energy is going to be brought to the field again tonight. The Rams will also have some help, as the Seahawks are dealing with a couple of key injuries.

Seattle Seahawks Out for Revenge

The Seahawks want revenge for that fateful January 9 game. However, they’re going to have trouble finding it. Dee Eskridge, the team’s top draft pick in this year’s NFL Draft, is out with a concussion, and both Chris Carson and Benson Mayowa are listed as questionable as they deal with neck injuries.

The Seahawks have allowed 450 yards per game this year, and the offense hasn’t been too much better. Russell Wilson is going to need some additional help from his receivers if Seattle wants to stay alive. He’s been able to connect with Freddie Swain often, but having a single target doesn’t lead to wins.

Shane Waldron also wants to leave his mark on the NFL. He was picked up by the Seahawks as their offensive coordinator, coming from the Rams. This is the first game he will have coached in against his former team, and a win would give him bragging rights.

LA Rams vs Seattle Seahawks Odds Comparison

Under beach coach Sean McVay, the Rams are 15-5 straight up, 14-6 against the spread (ATS) following a loss. Since they just suffered an embarrassing defeat against the Arizona Cardinals, that should mean a win is coming tonight.

In the Rams’ last eight October games, the Under has hit seven times, and this is beginning to look like another low-scoring game. The Seahawks aren’t expected to produce a lot of big plays and are likely to find themselves completely dominated.

  • DraftKings has the Rams at -140, a clear favorite to win. The spread is currently -2.5 (-110), while Over/Under is 54
  • FanDuel is giving the Rams -142 on a spread of -2.5 (-112), with the Over/Under at 54.5
  • Caesars Sportsbook is the same as DraftKings but has an Over/Under of 54.5

Godds Pick or Prediction of the Game

There’s no real scenario where the Seahawks win tonight, especially if they have to play without Carson and/or Mayowa. Their defense is giving up too many yards, and the Rams have an offense that is able to make big plays.

The only consolation is that the Seahawks beat the Rams twice before that Wild Card game, but that was a different year and came before Seattle started to really struggle. The Rams appear intent on going the distance this year and will keep their run going with another win tonight.

  • Godds Pick/Prediction: The Rams win, easily cover the spread, but the Under hits.
