The Colorado Avalanche are one step closer to fighting for what could become their third Stanley Cup in franchise history. With a 3-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers, the Avalanche are one game away from becoming Western Conference Champions and earning a spot in the finals.   

As for the Oilers, their lineup still has a chance to pull a comeback, even if it is on the outside. As challenging as it may seem, a last-minute win would at least allow Edmonton to plan before the series heads back to Colorado. Rantanen’s Avalanche Seek Conference Championship 

The Avalanche are just one game away from earning their third Western Conference Championship. However, Colorado has been consistent in remaining as the top seed in the West. 

With a 4-2 win at Edmonton on Saturday, the Avalanche proved that they are still the solid lineup that led the conference the entire regular season. However, with a win tonight, the Avalanche could set themselves up in a position they have not achieved in the last 20 years.

Mikko Rantanen continues to be the main player on the ice for the Avalanche. Rantanen is now standing with 36 goals and 56 assists for 92 points. Nazem Kadri has also added 59 assists for the Avalanche throughout the regular and postseason. 

McDavid’s Oilers Have a Chance to Extend the Series

The Oilers have been surpassed on all fronts. First, it was an 8-6 loss followed by a 4-0 beating at Colorado. Then, with a chance to turn things around at home, the Oilers still proved unsuccessful and fell against Colorado in the first game at Rogers Place.

On Saturday night, a 4-2 defeat proved to the Oilers that their home advantage was not positively weighing in. As a result, the Oilers now have a chance to extend the series to a fifth game that will send the series back to their rival’s arena.

Connor McDavid remains the top player for the Oilers throughout the season. McDavid is now standing with 123 points after nailing 44 goals and an outstanding 79 assists.
