Expert Top Pick of the Day: North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Indiana Hoosiers

Top Pick of the Day

North Carolina and Indiana clash tonight in an early-season battle between two of the top teams in the country. The Tar Heels are 5-2 this season and are looking for redemption after losing their last two games at home. They had a heartbreaking 103-101 quadruple overtime loss in their last contest against 11th-ranked Alabama on their home floor.

The Hoosiers haven’t played any ranked teams yet this season and are seventh in the country, scoring 88.8 points per game against much weaker competition. In their last game on Friday, they defeated Jackson State 90-51 for their fifth straight win at home. All but two of their victories so far have been by at least 30 points.

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Indiana Hoosiers Schedule

  • Date: Wednesday, November 30, 2022
  • Time: 09:15 PM EST
  • Location: Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, Bloomington, IN

Tar Heels’ Shooting Needs Improvement

North Carolina has had an issue with its shooting this season, especially from beyond the arc, where they shot 7-23 during their loss to Alabama. The Tar Heels have a very experienced team, but 30% shooting from three-point range won’t be good enough to beat a team like the Hoosiers on their home floor.

Caleb Love is the leading scorer for the Tar Heels, averaging 20 points per game. He’s also first on the team in assists, with 3.4 per game.

Armando Bacot is second with 16.7 points and leads the team in rebounding with 11.3 per game, which is tied for sixth in the country. He’s also shooting 56.7% from the field and is first on the team in blocked shots with 1.6 per game.

Hoosiers Face First Test This Season

Indiana is off to a great start this season as one of the favorites to take the Big Ten title. However, their 6-0 record has been mostly against teams ranked worse than 200th in the country by KenPom.

Tonight they’ll get a chance to show why they’re ranked in the top ten with an impressive showing against the Tar Heels at home tonight.

Trayce Jackson-Davis is the Hoosiers’ leading scorer with 18.8 points per game and is shooting 76% from the field, which is sixth in the nation. He’s also the team’s leading rebounder with eight per game.

Xavier Johnson is first for Indiana in assists with 4.8 per game and averages 11 points on 58.3% shooting. Jordan Geronimo has been solid on defense for the Hoosiers, with 1.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Indiana Hoosiers Odds Comparison

Godds Pick or Prediction of the Game

The Hoosiers won’t get as many easy shots tonight as they have in the first six games, as the Tar Heels are much better on defense than anyone they’ve faced so far.

The Tar Heels were ranked at the top of the preseason polls and need to start playing better as a unit. North Carolina should keep this game close in the hostile environment at Bloomington.

Godds Pick/Prediction: The Hoosiers win, and the total stays under.
