Colorado Rockies Injury Report

Sean Sullivan

SP

It's the first game outing since Sullivan went down with a left shoulder impingement in early July. The left-hander likely doesn't have enough time to get stretched back out to make any traditional starts down the stretch, but he could help the Rockies in a relief role.

15-Day-IL

Jose Quintana

SP

Out since late May with a sprained left elbow, Quintana began his throwing program in early July and has finally reached the final stage in his rehab. The Rockies -- already eliminated from postseason contention -- likely won't be in much of a hurry to bring the veteran southpaw back, but he could still return in time to make another start or two before the end of the season.

60-Day-IL

Kyle Freeland

SP

Freeland landed on the injured list Aug. 24 due to cervical radiculopathy, and after spending the past week throwing off a mound, the 33-year-old is now ready to return to a competitive setting. It's unclear whether he'll make additional rehab appearances beyond Wednesday, but because he hasn't been on the shelf very long, he shouldn't need much time to ramp back up.

15-Day-IL

Willi Castro

2B

Castro has sat out the Rockies' last three games while managing plantar fasciitis in his left foot, and he'll now officially remain out until at least next Saturday as he recovers. Vimael Machin will come up from Triple-A to replenish Colorado's infield depth, though Connor Norby and Ryan Ritter are more likely to benefit from additional playing time.

10-Day-IL

Chase Dollander

SP

Although Dollander managed to avoid undergoing a full Tommy John procedure, the operation will still put an early end to his second MLB season. He showed significant improvement in 2026, turning in a 3.89 ERA and 1.30 WHIP alongside a 47:18 K:BB in 44 innings across 10 appearances (three starts). A clearer timeline for his return could emerge as the 2027 campaign approaches.
