Kirby Yates
RP
Yates said afterward that his knee felt healthy but that he still needs to sharpen his stuff before he's ready to pitch in a game. Sidelined by left knee inflammation, Yates is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list April 6. It's unclear whether he'll be back on that date, but if he isn't it shouldn't be long after. Jordan Romano has seized the Angels' closer job for the time being, but Yates could work his way back into that mix.
Vaughn Grissom
2B
Grissom was declared ready for game action as he works his way back from a sprained left wrist. The infielder is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list and could be ready to go Friday when the Angels open up their first homestand of the season. Once activated, Grissom will be in the mix for playing time at second and third base for the Halos.
Ben Joyce
RP
Joyce continues to work toward returning to game action after undergoing right shoulder surgery last May. Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said the righty reliever looks good and may be able to make his return to game action before long. When Joyce is activated, he could quickly work his way up to a high-leverage role and potentially even closing duties.
Grayson Rodriguez
SP
Rodriguez began the season on the IL (retroactive to March 22) due to right shoulder inflammation. The Angels have been adamant that he's not dealing with a major injury, but the fact Rodriguez hasn't yet progressed to throwing bullpens may mean he's leaning toward not being ready to return when immediately eligible. Jack Kochanowicz and Ryan Johnson are getting opportunities to be part of the rotation early in the campaign.
Robert Stephenson
RP
Stephenson had been working his way back from a nerve issue and thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms during camp, but he suffered a setback in mid-March and has now been ruled out for at least the first 60 days of the regular season. A timeline for his return may begin to form once he's cleared to resume a throwing program.
