Will Klein

Klein spent the final two months of the season on the injured list due to his elbow, and he's now decided to go under the knife to treat the issue. He's expected to be fully recovered by the time spring training begins and may have to compete for a spot in the Dodgers' bullpen after posting a 3.67 ERA and 1.56 WHIP across 41.2 innings.

Dalton Rushing

C

Rushing was diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in early August, which kept him from catching and limited him to just 11 plate appearances in the final two months of the regular season. The surgery will prevent him from catching on a full-time basis for nine months, a timeline that stretches into the second half of next season. Rushing will be able to hit well before then, but it's unclear whether the Dodgers would consider carrying him on their active roster only as a hitter, especially with the designated hitter slot already filled by Shohei Ohtani. Rushing slashed .246/.328/.460 with 12 home runs in 80 contests for the Dodgers this season.

Blake Treinen

RP

Treinen landed on the injured list at the end of the regular season due to right shoulder inflammation, but Friedman said that the 38-year-old's injury isn't severe enough to require surgery. His availability for future postseason series (if the Dodgers advance) will likely depend on how quickly he recovers, but there's still a chance he can aid Los Angeles' bullpen as the team pursues a third consecutive World Series title.

Eric Lauer

SP

Lauer initially landed on the injured list Sept. 2 with elbow inflammation, so his move to the 60-day IL officially rules him out for the rest of the season. His place on the 40-man roster will go to top prospect Josue De Paula, who was selected from Double-A Tulsa in a corresponding move.

Gavin Stone

SP

Stone went two weeks in between rehab appearances as he recovered from a minor biceps issue. He had pitched tremendously in his first four outings prior to Wednesday, yielding just two runs with an 18:1 K:BB in 11.2 frames. If he can rediscover that form, Stone could help the Dodgers down the stretch. The 27-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2024 after undergoing shoulder surgery in October of that year and then experiencing a setback this spring.
