The injury provides an explanation as to why Diaz's velocity and results have been down early on this season. He was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier Monday and will be a candidate to be shifted to the 60-day IL when/if the Dodgers need a clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Tanner Scott is the favorite to handle the bulk of the save chances for the Dodgers while Diaz is sidelined, but Alex Vesia and/or Blake Treinen could be in the mix, as well.

Freddie Freeman

1B

Freeman has played in all 20 of Los Angeles' games this season but will now step away from the team for a few days to be with his growing family. The veteran first baseman should rejoin the club during the upcoming three-game series in San Francisco this week. Ryan Ward was called up Sunday to round out the Dodgers' 26-man roster.

Blake Snell

SP

Snell continues to rehab from left shoulder fatigue that caused him to open the regular season on the 15-day injured list. Wednesday was his second bullpen session of his recovery program, and he'll likely need several more before being cleared to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. Snell is not expected to make his season debut until at least late May.

Brock Stewart

RP

Tuesday's action will be Stewart's first in a game since his short rehab assignment in September. Seemingly on pace in his recovery as of Tuesday, the right-hander may join the Dodgers' bullpen before the end of the month.

Mookie Betts

SS

Betts has been making steady progress while rehabbing a right oblique strain suffered in early April. Manager Dave Roberts noted that Betts will need to progress to hitting off a tee and soft toss before gaining clearance for batting practice, per Plunkett. A more exact timetable for his return could come into focus once he's given the green light to take batting practice.
