Working his way back from a stress reaction in his shin, Bender pitched for Jacksonville on Tuesday in what was his first outing in nearly two months. He's returned to Miami to be examined, and the next steps for his rehab will be determined following that visit.

William Kempner

The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Logan Driscoll. Kempner recently underwent UCL surgery on his right elbow and will be sidelined, at minimum, until late in the 2027 season.

Kyle Stowers

Stowers suffered a left hamstring strain just over a week ago, so it's a good sign that he's already running again to test out his injured leg. He will be eligible for activation Friday, and while it seems unlikely Stowers will be ready to go on that day, he shouldn't have any trouble being reinstated from the 10-day injured list before the end of August.

Andrew Nardi

Miami placed Nardi on the injured list May 30 due to a left rib cage stress reaction, but that injury is now viewed as a lesser concern after he experienced elbow discomfort while working his way through a throwing program earlier this month. After receiving a consultation last week from renowned arm specialist Dr. Keith Meister last week, Nardi has decided to undergo surgery to address the elbow injury. The type of procedure won't be known until after the operation is completed, but assuming Nardi requires Tommy John or internal brace surgery -- or a hybrid of the two -- he'll likely miss the entire 2027 season. The upcoming elbow surgery is the latest in a long line of health-related setbacks for the reliever, who previously missed the entire 2025 campaign due to a lower-back injury.

Max Meyer

Miami placed Meyer on the 15-day injured list July 20 due to a neck strain, but is his rib has apparently also been bothering him and has delayed his ramp-up process. If the shot yields the desired effect and alleviates the pain, Meyer is expected to begin throwing soon thereafter and gear up for a return from the IL. Assuming the Marlins plan on having Meyer prepare for a starting role prior to being activated, he'll still likely need at least a few weeks to build back up, so a return before the end of August could be ambitious.
