Eury Perez
SP
Manager Clayton McCullough indicated Monday that Perez would return from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday as long as he bounced back from a pitch design session with no issues, and that has happened. Perez's absence due to a right gracilis muscle strain lasted four weeks, which is half of the initial projected timetable. He threw 51 pitches in his lone rehab start, so Perez's workload will be relatively limited Wednesday.
Liam Hicks
C
Hicks was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a lower-back strain, and the Marlins will have a better idea as to proceed with his rehab after the MRI results are in. Manager Clayton McCullough said Monday that Hicks feels improved but is "still stiff." The club could have more on Hicks' status later Monday.
Janson Junk
SP
Junk seems to be making good progress in his recovery from a right shin bone inflammation, which sent him to the injured list May 31. Once Junk resumes facing hitters, a minor-league rehab assignment should follow shortly thereafter. Junk may need just one start in the minors before slotting back into the Miami rotation, potentially in the first week of July.
Josh Ekness
RP
After Ekness was spotted moving around in the Miami clubhouse with the aid of crutches following Sunday's loss to the Mets, the Marlins placed him on the 15-day injured list a day later. Ekness was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday but didn't make any relief appearances during his second stint of the season with the big club. Given the estimated six-week recovery timeline, Ekness will remain on the shelf through the All-Star break.
Max Meyer
SP
Meyer was placed on the bereavement list Monday, but it will not cost him a turn in the Marlins' rotation, as he'll be taking the ball on five days' rest Friday. The righty has had a breakout season in Miami, going 8-0 while collecting a 2.80 ERA and 102:34 K:BB over 90 innings covering 16 starts.
