Mick Abel

SP

Abel, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow July 1, has been on the injured list since April. The right-hander remains without a clear timetable for a return, though he's expected to be re-evaluated at some point over the next few weeks.

Anthony Banda

RP

Banda last pitched June 28 and was placed on the 15-day injured list 11 days ago. He expects to be ready for the start of spring training in February. The lefty reliever appeared in 39 games out of the bullpen for Minnesota this season and registered a 4.46 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 33:15 K:BB across 34.1 innings.

Connor Prielipp

SP

After his 10 strikeout performance last start, Prielipp was not as efficient this game as he only got through five innings (49 of 83 pitches as strikes) after three straight six inning outings. Prielipp has struggled to settle in to the rotation in his rookie season, with a 5.15 ERA and a 60:22 K:BB minus his first two starts. The 25-year-old is not scheduled to start again before the All-Star game.

Marco Raya

RP

Raya tossed two scoreless frames during his most recent appearance Saturday, but he seems to have come out of that outing with a shoulder issue. The rookie reliever will be eligible to return from the IL in late July, but the nature of the injury suggests he could be in line for a longer absence.

Cole Sands

RP

Initially placed on the injured list May 2 due to a right forearm strain, Sands was cleared to start a rehab assignment in early June but was pulled off of it after experiencing a setback following his lone appearance. Just over a month later, Sands was able to complete a throwing program and gain clearance to restart the minor-league assignment, and the results from his first outing on the farm were encouraging. He averaged 93.7 mph with his four-seam fastball Tuesday, just over a half-tick above his season average (93.0) over his 12 appearances with the Twins prior to landing on the shelf. Sands could be ready to rejoin the Minnesota bullpen following the All-Star break.
