Nick Davila

Davila had just been recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, and he hurt himself in an appearance later that day in the Mariners' 7-0 loss to the Blue Jays. Though he will be eligible for activation in mid-September, the nature of the injury points to Davila being out longer than that, possibly for the rest of the season.

Matt Brash

RP

Brash had been ramping up toward a return, throwing bullpen sessions in late August, but this setback eliminates any hope for a return this season. The flamethrowing right-hander made 20 appearances out of the Seattle bullpen in between IL stints, posting a 0.54 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB over 16.2 innings.

Brendan Donovan

3B

Donovan has still felt concussion symptoms like nausea, fatigue and dizziness while participating in pregame workouts, and he will not be cleared to play until he can make it through a whole pregame workout symptom free. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since he was hit in the head by a baseball prior to a game against the Cubs on Aug. 22.

Brennen Davis

CF

Davis hasn't played in a game at Tacoma since late May while recovering from a strained left hamstring. His move to the 60-day IL won't affect his return timeline, but it will free up a roster spot for Stuart Fairchild, who was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move. It's unknown how far away Davis is from returning.

Colt Emerson

SS

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the return of Cooper Criswell from the 60-day IL. Emerson underwent season-ending surgery last week to repair a tendon in his left wrist.
