Utah Mammoth +1.5 at New Jersey. Six Devils injuries and I'm not overthinking it.

Utah Mammoth +1.5

Spread · Best odds: -238 at MyBookie.ag

Utah is scoring 4.0 goals per game while allowing just 1.7, and they catch a New Jersey team missing six regulars including three defensemen. The Devils are allowing 4.0 goals per game and sit 0-1 ATS, so grabbing the Mammoth at +1.5 is the cleanest way to back the better team without laying road juice.

The God of Odds likes Utah Mammoth +1.5 at -238, and MyBookie.ag is the place to hammer it. Yes, that's a steep price. It's also the correct one. New Jersey is dressing a shell of a roster and Utah is the better hockey team right now, full stop.

The numbers don't require a sales pitch. Utah is putting up 4.0 goals per game and giving back just 1.7. New Jersey is scoring 1.5 and surrendering 4.0. One team is winning by two and a half goals a night on average, the other is losing by the same margin. The Devils are 0-1-0 against the spread, and their only win came with a healthy blue line.

That blue line is gone. Seamus Casey, Johnathan Kovacevic, Brett Pesce and Zack MacEwen are all out or doubtful, with Nick Bjugstad and Stefan Noesen joining them. That's six regulars, three of them defensemen, in front of a goaltender who's been asked to stop everything. Utah's only absence is Maveric Lamoureux, one body against six. The save percentage gap tells the rest: .926 versus .860. That's not a coin flip, that's a mismatch.

The head-to-head is the one thing screaming the other way. New Jersey took both meetings last season, 2-1 in December and 4-1 in January. Respect it. But those Devils teams were whole, and this one isn't. It's also October, two games into the year, so the signals carry less weight than they will in December. The market hasn't moved off -1.5 because it's pricing the logo, not the lineup card.

Utah at +1.5 (-238) at MyBookie.ag is the play. Bovada wants -1.5 at +200 on the other side; you're not touching that with six guys in street clothes. The Mammoth have scored four goals in every game they've won this year. New Jersey hasn't held anyone under four. Take the cushion and let the Devils prove they can win by two.
