Carroll continues to make significant progress in his hitting program, taking live at-bats for the first time since undergoing surgery Feb. 12 to address a fractured hamate bone in his right hand. While he's still unlikely to see any spring training action, Carroll looks to have a strong chance to be ready for the Diamondbacks' regular-season opener..

Merrill Kelly

Kelly threw a bullpen session Thursday and came away from the session feeling good. He'll take the next step in his recovery Sunday by facing batters. The 37-year-old threw roughly 30 pitches in the bullpen session and utilized his entire arsenal.

Adrian Del Castillo

C

Del Castillo has been sidelined since mid-February, at which point his recovery time was estimated to be about a month. He's not running yet, but the resumption of baseball activities indicates Del Castillo could be available for Opening Day.

Brandyn Garcia

RP

Garcia had diminished velocity and poor command over his pitches Saturday, but his performance turned out to be a symptom of illness rather than a physical injury. He'll take all the time he needs to recover and should be back pitching in the Cactus League relatively soon.

Cristian Mena

RP

Mena has been out since early June after suffering a right shoulder strain, and he doesn't appear to be particularly close to returning to action. With less than a month left in the 2025 campaign, the right-hander may be running short on time. Mena will likely have to participate in multiple bullpen sessions and an eventual minor-league rehab assignment before he'd be able to return.
