Michael Soroka
SP
Soroka suffered the injury while warming up for the second inning of Friday's start against the Twins, putting a premature end to his evening. He'll now be forced to sit out through the beginning of July, though he may still be able to make a few more starts before the All-Star break, depending on how quickly he can recover. Philip Abner was recalled from Triple-A Reno to give Arizona extra bullpen depth while the team sorts out its rotation plans.
Jordan Lawlar
LF
Lawlar had to come out of Friday's game after legging out an infield single, and imaging later revealed that he had strained his hamstring. He'll now spend at least the next 10 days on the shelf, leaving Jorge Barrosa as the favorite to take over as Arizona's primary center fielder. Tim Tawa was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move.
A.J. Puk
RP
Puk has yet to make his season debut for Arizona in 2026 and the wait will now be even longer after the club determined he will be shut down for another four weeks. Once the four weeks are up, the left-hander will undergo an MRI to see if his recovery has advanced at all.
Ryne Nelson
SP
Nelson held the Angels to two runs over seven innings in his last start Monday, but now he's sidelined indefinitely. There's been no timetable provided by the Diamondbacks yet, but the nature of the injury points to a lengthy absence for Nelson. Brandon Pfaadt is a likely candidate to replace Nelson in the Arizona rotation.
Juan Centeno
C
Centeno will provide the Diamondbacks with some backstop depth at the Triple-A level again in 2023. The 33-year-old slashed .305/.355/.512 with 15 homers over 91 games with Triple-A Reno and Double-A Amarillo in 2022.
James McCann
C
McCann has been on the shelf since May 19 due to a right quadriceps strain. However, he was cleared to resume baseball activities earlier this month, and assuming everything goes to plan, he'll face live competition as early as next week. The backstop hasn't appeared in a game since May 18, so he'll presumably need to participate in at least a handful of matchups before being activated from the 10-day injured list.
Carlos Santana
1B
Santana started at first base, played five innings and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI for the ACL D-backs. He was back at Chase Field to take batting practice with the Diamondbacks on Saturday. It's unclear what role Santana will have once he's ready, as both first base and DH are crowded with Pavin Smith, Ildemaro Vargas and LuJames Groover currently rostered. That doesn't include the pending returns Lourdes Gurriel (hamstring) and Jordan Lawlar (wrist), both of whom may need at-bats at DH.
Corbin Burnes
SP
Burnes has been throwing to live hitters over the past couple of weeks while working his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent last June, and he reportedly felt something in his side/shoulder during his last session. The team is hopeful that the 31-year-old righty will still be able to return sometime in September, though a more precise timeline will likely take shape once he's cleared to restart his throwing program.
Cristian Mena
RP
Mena sustained a teres major strain in his right shoulder in June of 2025, which caused him to miss the rest of that season. He opened 2026 on the 60-day IL and was cleared to resume his throwing program in mid-May. However, it appears Mena suffered another setback in his recovery, and his shoulder injury is severe enough for him to undergo a season-ending procedure. The hope for the Diamondbacks is that the surgery will have the 23-year-old fully healthy for the start of spring training in February.
Blake Walston
SP
Arizona hasn't provided any concrete information regarding where Walston currently stands in the rehab process, but he's not expected to be a realistic candidate to return from the 60-day injured list until after the All-Star break. The 24-year-old left-hander hasn't made an appearance in an official game since spring training of last year after undergoing Tommy John surgery March 26, 2025.

Justin Martinez
RP
This was Martinez's first time throwing off a mound since he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last July. Per Piecoro, the reliever was at 96-to-99 mph with his fastball during the bullpen session. Martinez still has several more hurdles to clear and plenty of ramp-up, and he's not expected to be ready to return to Arizona's bullpen until sometime after the All-Star break.
Andrew Saalfrank
RP
Saalfrank underwent surgery Monday to repair the left labrum in his shoulder and has already been placed on the 60-day injured list. The rehab timeline gives the lefty a chance to be ready for the start of the 2027 season, but it is not a given.
Kyle Amendt
RP
Amendt, a ninth-round pick in 2023 out of Dallas Baptist University, didn't bring a lot of cache to the organization, but the right-hander emerged in 2024. Among the minor-league pitchers who worked at least 40 innings, Amendt ranked fifth in both K/9 (15.3) and strikeout percentage (40.3), per Jesse Borek of MLB.com. He was a closer in college and worked out of the bullpen at High-A Hillsboro, Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A Reno. There was initially a challenge at Reno -- he allowed multiple runs in his first two appearances -- but he finished with a 1.80 ERA over his final 11 outings. Amendt uses a fastball and curveball, which tends to break away from lefties due to his unique delivery.
