Ryan Helsley

RP

Helsley has been on the 15-day injured list since late June with right elbow discomfort, and the right-hander threw 24 pitches in live batting practice Tuesday. The rehab outing will be his first game action in over two months, so he'll likely need to get a few appearances under his belt before becoming an option to rejoin the Orioles. A return before the end of the season remains in the cards, though.

Blaze Alexander

3B

Alexander had to be pulled from Tuesday's game versus the Guardians after his back started acting up on him, and ultimately the issue has forced another IL stint. He just returned from an extended absence less than two weeks ago. Jeremiah Jackson is taking Alexander's spot on the active roster.

Ryan Mountcastle

1B

Mountcastle initially went down with a left foot fracture in mid-April, but it's an oblique strain he suffered in late July that's been the more recent cause of his continued absence. A return before the end of the month remains possible, but even if that happens Mountcastle's role could be relatively limited.

Christian Franklin

CF

Franklin landed on the 10-day injured list one week ago with left hand inflammation, so it's a good sign that he's been cleared to hit again already. It's seems unlikely that he'll be ready for activation when first eligible Friday, but he should return sometime this month if he continues to progress.

Felix Bautista

RP

Bautista kicked off his rehab assignment in late August and has made five appearances with Double-A Chesapeake and Triple-A Norfolk, allowing four runs on three hits and six walks with five strikeouts across four innings. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since July 20 of last year due to shoulder surgery.
