James Outman
CF
Outman has been on the 7-day concussion IL since last Thursday, and he appears to be nearing the final stages of his recovery now that he's been cleared to play in rehab games. It's unclear how many reps the Tigers will have him take at Toledo before adding him back onto the active roster, but a return during Detroit's upcoming weekend series in Kansas City isn't out of the question.
Kerry Carpenter
RF
Carpenter will have his foot partially immobilized for the next few days, by which time his rehab will resume based on his symptoms. The 28-year-old is recovering from plantar fasciitis in his right foot that caused him to go on the 10-day IL in late July. The Tigers should have a better idea of Carpenter's new return timeline once he's cleared to resume baseball activities.
Jack Flaherty
SP
Flaherty doesn't appear to have been cleared to start throwing off a mound just yet as he works his way back from right flexor inflammation, so he looks like he could still be at least a couple of weeks away from potentially returning from the 15-day injured list. Since he's been on the shelf for less than a month, the right-hander probably still has time to get stretched back out for a starting role, but he'll need to avoid any setbacks while he builds up.
Riley Greene
LF
Greene was hit by a pitch on his right leg while leading off the bottom of the second frame, and it's possible that he tweaked his hamstring while running the bases during the inning. Greene can be considered day-to-day for the time being, and any additional information on the injury will likely come following the conclusion of Tuesday's contest.
Brant Hurter
RP
Hurter isn't dealing with any new injury complications, but the Tigers will pull him away from minor-league games anyway for about a week so he can work out some issues with his delivery. The left-hander hasn't found much success since he was cleared to play in rehab games Aug. 5, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits and four walks while striking out four batters in just 3.2 innings.
