Jake Burger

Joc Pederson will receive the start at first base while Burger receives the evening off. Burger had been included in the lineup in each of the previous four games, going 6-for-14 with two home runs, one double, two walks, five RBI and three runs during that stretch.

Jack Leiter

SP

Leiter made his second rehab start for the RoughRiders and threw 59 pitches (38 strikes). The right-hander was sharp the first two innings before unraveling in the third. He walked the leadoff batter in the fourth before being removed. Leiter told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that there have been no discussions about continuing to buildup on assignment, but given his pitch count, another outing would not be surprising. The 26-year-old is rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body in his right ankle on June 23.

Josh Jung

3B

Jung had already been hitting and throwing, but taking part in mobility work represents an even more meaningful step in the right direction as he works his way back from a left calf strain. If Jung's calf responds well to Sunday's workout, he'll likely start fielding grounders and incorporating more change-of-direction running into his rehab program. The 28-year-old could then head out on a rehab assignment soon thereafter and potentially make his return to the Texas lineup before the end of the month.

Nathan Eovaldi

SP

There's no word yet on how much time Eovaldi might miss, but if there's a silver lining it's that the elbow injury is not related to his UCL. Eovaldi has been slated to start Wednesday's game against the Angels, but the Rangers will likely turn to Cal Quantrill to make that start.

Jose Corniell

RP

Corniell gave up five earned runs in just one inning out of the bullpen during Monday's game against the White Sox, and he'll now have to remain on the sidelines until at least Aug. 5 due to his latest injury. The severity of his injury remains unknown, though it's worth noting that the 23-year-old righty underwent Tommy John surgery back in 2024. Marco Gonzales was promoted from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
