Chase Burns

Burns, who labored through five innings and 106 pitches, was injured while covering home plate on a wild pitch. The right-hander huddled with manager Terry Francona and the front office and decided it was best to not represent the National League in the midsummer classic. Burns said he didn't feel anything wrong while on the mound for the rest of the game but felt tightness the following day. There has been no mention of imaging, which suggests Burns could return following the All-Star break.

Dane Myers

CF

Per MLB.com, Myers is hopeful to return from the 10-day injured list for the Reds' first game out of the All-Star break Friday in Colorado, so he may need just a couple of games in Arizona to prove his health. Before landing on the IL on June 30 due to a left shoulder contusion, Myers had mostly served as a short-side platoon outfielder for the Reds this season and slashed .256/.358/.385 with three home runs, five stolen bases, 14 RBI and 18 runs across 137 plate appearances.

Nick Lodolo

SP

Lodolo was pulled in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Cubs due to a blister on his left finger. The hurler said the blister became an issue during that sixth frame, and manager Terry Francona suggested that the injury will likely result in a stay on the injured list. Should that indeed be the case, Lodolo would need to miss at least his next two scheduled starts.

Matt McLain

2B

McLain was unavailable Thursday because of the injury and ultimately wasn't able to avoid a trip to the injured list. The 26-year-old has seen his role reduced, as McLain had started only five of the Reds' last 12 games before his placement on the IL. Calf strains typically result in longer than 10-day absences, but it's unclear how severe McLain's strain is.

Blake Dunn

CF

Dunn, who received an injection of cortisone in the elbow , has been on the injured list retroactive to June 27. The 10-day minimum expires Tuesday but it appears he may need more time.
