Clay Holmes
SP
Making what may have been his final start as a member of the Mets organization, Holmes showed that he's ready to return from the 60-day injured list after being shelved for the past two and a half months due to a right fibula fracture. He built up to 73 pitches in Sunday's outing, spotting 53 of his offerings for strikes while sporting a sinker that sat around 91-to-93 mph. According to John Flanigan of SNY.tv, the Diamondbacks, Phillies, Rays and Rangers all had scouts in attendance in Brooklyn to monitor the 32-year-old right-hander, who is a prime candidate to be moved ahead of Monday's trade deadline.
Cionel Perez
RP
Perez has tossed 5.2 scoreless frames with a 9:0 K:BB over his last five appearances but will now be shelved for at least the next couple weeks. The Mets have added Jonathan Pintaro and Xzavion Curry to their bullpen.
Juan Soto
LF
Soto made an early exit from Friday's contest against the Dodgers due to a sore left calf, marking the second time he's been forced out of a game because of his calf since the All-Star break. MRI results confirmed Saturday that the 27-year-old has suffered a strain, and although the Mets haven't provided details regarding the severity of the strain, it will still force him to remain on the shelf until at least Aug. 4. Jorge Polanco figures to see consistent starts as New York's designated hitter while Soto is out, and Eric Wagaman will come up from Triple-A Syracuse to replenish the team's bench depth.
Justin Hagenman
RP
Six weeks have passed since the Mets have provided an update on Hagenman, so the 29-year-old righty could be stuck in a holding pattern in his recovery from the fractured rib he sustained in a March 5 Grapefruit League game. Once he finally completes a throwing progression, Hagenman will require an extended minor-league rehab assignment and will likely be optioned to Triple-A Syracuse once he's activated from the 60-day injured list.
Mark Vientos
1B
Vientos was struck by a 92 mph sinker thrown by Michael Wacha in the second inning of Thursday's game versus the Royals, and imaging revealed the unfortunate news. He will likely be sidelined until sometime in August, though the Mets have yet to divulge a timeline for the infielder. Vientos has been used mainly in a short-side platoon at first base over the past five weeks.
