Jared Young
1B
It's a quick turnaround for Young, who had surgery less than a month ago to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee. He will likely require a good number of rehab at-bats, but a return around June 1 seems doable.
Francisco Alvarez
C
Alvarez exited Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Tigers after twisting his knee and was placed on the 10-day injured earlier Wednesday when an MRI confirmed the meniscus tear. Mendoza said that an official timeline for Alvarez's return won't be established until surgery is performed, but the skipper's comments point to the young catcher getting a partial meniscectomy rather than a full meniscus repair, which would entail a multi-month recovery. Luis Torrens will start at catcher Wednesday against Detroit and is likely to serve as the Mets' primary backstop for however long Alvarez is shelved.

Francisco Lindor
SS
If the results of the imaging are encouraging, a clearer timeline for the star shortstop's return from a calf strain could come into focus. Lindor is out of a walking boot, but as yet there's no concrete plan for him to resume baseball activities. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since April 22 and has a disappointing .226/.314/.335 slash line through 105 plate appearances.
Juan Soto
LF
Soto took a foul tip off his ankle in the third inning and was later removed in the seventh. However, he appears to have escaped the incident with nothing more than a bruise and is considered day-to-day by the team. Austin Slater could pick up a start or two in the outfield if the Mets decide to sit Soto as a precaution, but the 27-year-old slugger should avoid spending time on the injured list.
