Gerrit Cole

Cole was able to limit the damage in his second rehab outing, throwing 42 of his 52 total pitches for strikes. The right-hander is expected to require multiple more starts to build up his workload before making his return to the major-league roster, and it's unclear where his next stop will be on his minor-league rehab assignment.

Anthony Volpe

SS

Volpe is 6-for-15 with one home run, two stolen bases and a 1:4 BB:K over his first five rehab contests between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Boone said that the shortstop has had "zero issues" with his surgically repaired left shoulder the last couple months, but Volpe hasn't completed a full game yet on his rehab assignment, so he still has some buildup to do. A return in 10 days would put Volpe in line for his season debut May 2, though a more specific timetable will be available in the coming days. Volpe should receive the lion's share of playing time at shortstop once he is activated, with Jose Caballero shifting to a super-utility role.

Ryan Weathers

Weathers was firing on all cylinders Sunday, rebounding in a big way after serving up four home runs to the Angels his last time out. The left-hander recorded his first scoreless start of the season, and he's now fanned at least seven in four of his first five outings. Weathers will be looking to build off his strong start to 2026 in his next scheduled appearance versus Houston, as he's produced a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB over 28.1 frames so far.

Carlos Rodon

SP

The beginning of Rodon's rehab assignment got pushed back when he developed some hamstring tightness earlier this month, but he's now finally been cleared for game action. Rodon is expected to make three rehab starts before rejoining the Yankees' rotation in early May. He had offseason surgery to remove loose bodies and shave down a bone spur from his left elbow.

Clarke Schmidt

SP

The 10-pitch, all-fastballs bullpen session was Schmidt's first time throwing off the mound since he had an internal brace procedure on his right elbow last July. Schmidt will continue with a gradual build-up, aiming to face hitters by June. The right-hander could be an option for the Yankees' rotation at some point in the second half of the season.
