Jalen Carter

The cost to maintain Carter's services through 2027 comes at a hefty $27 million. The defensive tackle earned Pro Bowl honors in both 2024 and 2025, adding value to his fifth-year option. Carter missed multiple games due to various injuries last season, as well as being ejected in Week 1 for an incident involving him spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. When Carter was on the field, he produced 33 tackles (21 solo), including 3.0 sacks, and seven passes defensed over 12 regular-season games (really 11 since he was ejected before the first snap of Week 1).

Nolan Smith Jr.

LB

Smith will earn another $13.7 million, guaranteeing his services to the Eagles through 2027. The linebacker is coming off a slightly disappointing season that was spoiled by a lingering triceps injury he originally suffered during training camp. Despite the issue, Smith still started 12 regular-season games, logging 31 tackles (15 solo), including 3.0 sacks. Headed into 2026 healthy, Smith will look to produce a year similar to his 2024 season (42 tackles, including 6.5 sacks), which would help greatly in long-term extension discussions with the organization.

Keyshawn James-Newby

LB

James-Newby enjoyed a six-year college career that ended with New Mexico in 2025, when he was selected to the All-MWC First-Team after posting 52 total tackles, including 9.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and five pass defenses across 13 games. He's not the most powerful pass-rushing prospect in the draft, but James-Newby beat opposing blockers with his burst off the snap, and he'll need to become a more reliable tackler to see meaningful snaps at the NFL level. He'll compete with the likes of Jalyx Hunt, Jose Ramirez, Arnold Ebiketie and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka for rotational snaps at the edge rusher position behind Nolan Smith and the newly acquired Jonathan Greenard (shoulder).

Uar Bernard

DT

Bernard (6-foot-4, 306 pounds) put together an impressive workout performance at the International Player Pathway Pro Day, highlighted by a 4.69 40-yard dash and a 39-inch vertical. Though he has not played organized football at the collegiate level, Philadelphia is intrigued enough by the potential of his rare combination of size and athleticism to invest draft capital into Bernard's development. While Bernard looks set to begin his career working at defensive tackle, he could also test his hand at edge rusher or along the O-line.

Large signed with the team as an undrafted free agent May 1 but ended up spending less than a week on their active roster. He will now miss at least the first four games of the regular season.
