The nature of Braswell's injury is unclear, nor when he picked up the injury. The 2024 second-rounder is battling for a depth spot on the Bucs' 53-man roster, and he would help his case if he could play in Friday's preseason finale against the Jaguars.

Baker Mayfield

As expected, Mayfield made his preseason debut and worked the first two series with a short-handed pass-catching crew that was down Emeka Egbuka (toe), Jalen McMillan (knee), Tez Johnson (groin) and Cade Otton (undisclosed). Mayfield's completions went to Kameron Johnson (11 yards) and David Sills (-1 yard), and Saturday's brief appearance likely represents the extent of preseason action Mayfield will see ahead of a Week 1 road showdown with Joe Burrow and the Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Kenny Gainwell

RB

Both Gainwell and Bucky Irving logged their touches for the night on the opening possession. Gainwell wasn't targeted Saturday during his brief time in the game, but the veteran pass-catching back is ticketed to play a major role in that capacity come the regular season, albeit while likely taking only a modest amount of rushing touches from Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker. Gainwell will likely next see the field in a Week 1 road matchup against the Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Bucky Irving

Irving was one of the healthy Buccaneers offensive starters to suit up Saturday, and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson appeared intent on making sure the third-year back got his work in during his brief time in the game. Irving handled the ball in each of Tampa Bay's first three plays from scrimmage, with 12 of his 14 rushing yards coming on his first pair of touches. Following an injury-plagued 2025 season that saw him miss seven regular-season games, Irving is healthy ahead of the 2026 campaign and projected to handle a significant workload as both a runner and receiver following the replacement of free-agent departure Rachaad White with Kenny Gainwell, who's likely to vulture fewer rushing touches than the latter used to.

Ted Hurst III

The rookie wideout once again drew the start due to the plethora of injuries at the wide receiver position for the Buccaneers. However, unlike his two-catch pro debut against the Jets, Hurst was unable to crack the stat sheet Saturday. Assuming all of Emeka Egbuka (toe), Jalen McMillan (knee) and Tez Johnson (groin) are available for a Week 1 road matchup against the Bengals, Hurst won't be guaranteed active status on gameday; however, any absences on the part of the trio would change the equation.
