Gonzalez has been on the injured list all season as he works his way back from shoulder surgery, though he was pulled from his rehab game at Double-A Portland on Saturday due to soreness in his hip. His hip injury turned out to be minor, and he's now set to spend the next couple of days continuing his rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester before returning over the weekend. Once activated, he shouldn't have a problem working into Boston's lineup, though the team may slowly ease him back into regular action.

Garrett Crochet

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said that Crochet's left shoulder and lat are "improving," but not enough that he's ready to throw. Crochet landed on the injured list in late April with left shoulder inflammation and then encountered a setback in early June when he sustained a low-grade left lat strain. The southpaw has been throwing a plyometric ball, but a timetable for his return won't become clearer until he ramps up a throwing program.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa

2B

Kiner-Falefa was a late scratch from the lineup before Friday's game, and his forearm will now force him to remain sidelined until at least June 29. Andruw Monasterio is a likely candidate to pick up extra starts in the infield while Kiner-Falefa is out, and Anthony Seigler will come up from Triple-A Worcester to add to Boston's infield depth.

Trevor Story

SS

Story is taking the first steps in his return from sports hernia surgery, and Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said the shortstop is "progressing pretty nicely." Story won't be eligible to be activated until the first day following the All-Star break.

Marcelo Mayer

2B

The lefty-hitting Mayer is taking a seat with the Rockies sending southpaw Sean Sullivan to the mound Tuesday. Anthony Seigler is starting at second base and batting ninth.
