Roman Anthony
LF
Anthony is still trying to get over the hump in his recovery from the partially torn tendon in his right ring finger that has kept him on the shelf since May 7. Though Tracy noted that Anthony's finger is healing as expected, the 23-year-old has struggled to regain full strength in his hand, which has thus far prevented him from starting a hitting progression. Until Anthony reaches that step in the recovery process, the Red Sox won't be able to map out a minor-league rehab assignment for him. Though Anthony remains without an official timeline to return from the 60-day injured list, fantasy managers can safely rule him out through the rest of July.
Connelly Early
SP
It's good news for Early, who was removed early from his June 30 start and placed on the 15-day injured list the following day. The rookie southpaw should be ready to return to the Boston rotation shortly after the All-Star break. Early has posted a 3.44 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 93:34 K:BB across 91.2 innings spanning 17 starts this season.
Willson Contreras
1B
Contreras will begin serving the suspension Thursday and will be reinstated before the second game of a doubleheader versus the Rays on July 17. The first baseman had already been slated to sit out Thursday's game with a left contusion, but the injury should no longer be an issue by the time Contreras is eligible for reinstatement. Brett Harris is starting at first base for the Red Sox on Thursday, and he could share the position with Romy Gonzalez while Contreras is unavailable.
Ranger Suarez
SP
It was announced last Sunday that Suarez was removed from his start against the Angels due to left adductor tightness, but MRI results revealed a bit more, and the left-hander will be sidelined through the All-Star break. Suarez has pitched to a 3.15 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 97:26 K:BB across 91.1 innings in his first season with Boston.
Garrett Crochet
SP
Initially placed on the injured list April 29 due to shoulder inflammation, Crochet advanced to facing live hitters in late May, but after experiencing a setback and being diagnosed with a low-grade lat strain, he's essentially back to square one in the rehab process. While he hasn't been shut down from activity entirely, Crochet will need to eventually restart a throwing progression before the Red Sox have a better sense of when he might be ready to return. Even if he gets the green light to start playing catch with a baseball during the All-Star break, Crochet would likely need at least a month to check all the boxes in his throwing program and complete a rehab assignment, so a return in late August probably represents a best-case scenario for the 27-year-old.
