Andres Gimenez
SS
Gimenez was pulled from Thursday's game with a right hamstring injury and remains day-to-day for Toronto. With Josh Smith now nursing a hamstring injury of his own, the Blue Jays are starting Ernie Clement at shortstop and Charles McAdoo at second base Friday.
Josh Smith
2B
Smith got the Blue Jays to double-digit runs with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. He hit just one home run over 45 appearances for Texas before being traded to Toronto, where he has two long balls over 13 games with his new team while going 6-for-25 (.240).
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
1B
Guerrero went through a full on-field workout Wednesday and bounced back well, clearing the way for him to get in some at-bats in the minors Thursday. As long as he comes out of that contest with no setbacks, Vlad Jr. will be activated from the 7-day injured list when first eligible ahead of Saturday's game versus the Yankees.
Joe Mantiply
RP
It was the left-hander's first outing in more than three months, as he's been working his way back from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. Mantiply will likely need at least a couple more rehab appearances before rejoining the Blue Jays' active roster.
Trey Yesavage
SP
It's a positive step in Yesavage's recovery from a meniscus injury that he underwent surgery for last week. There's a chance that the 23-year-old returns toward the tail end of the 2026 season, though that will ultimately depend on how his injury reacts to increased work as he progresses in his rehab program. Yesavage posted a 5-5 record across 18 starts prior to his recent knee injury, boasting a 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 91:46 K:BB over 93.2 innings.
Jameson Taillon
SP
Taillon just landed on the 15-day injured list one week ago with right forearm tendinitis, so it's a good sign that he's already feeling well enough to throw. He has a chance to be back at the end of August when first eligible, though Taillon's role once reinstated looks uncertain.
Jake Bloss
SP
The transaction clears a spot on the Blue Jays' 40-man roster for the addition of waiver claim Paul Sewald. Bloss had been shelved at Triple-A for the past month due to the injury, and while he should be ready to go for the start of the 2027 season, he's not expected to pitch again in 2026, per MLB.com.
Luis Urias
2B
Urias landed on the 10-day injured list last Friday with a right quad strain, and he's looking at a fairly lengthy absence. The infielder will need time to ramp back up following a two-week shutdown period and should eventually require a rehab assignment, likely putting him on the shelf for at least a month or so.
Yimi Garcia
RP
Garcia will undergo further testing to decide if he needs surgery, but manager John Schneider said Garcia's season is likely over. The right-hander has pitched in just one big-league game since May 22 of last season, and he was recently pulled off his minor-league rehab assignment due to ongoing arm issues. Garcia turns 36 years old later this month.
Patrick Corbin
SP
The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Matt Waldron, who was claimed off waivers from the Padres. Corbin was already expected to be shut down from throwing for multiple weeks after being deactivated due to a left teres major strain, and his move to the 60-day IL ensures that he'll remain on the shelf through Sept. 19. The Blue Jays will have just seven games left on the schedule once Corbin is eligible for reinstatement, so his season is effectively over. The veteran southpaw turned in a 5.51 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 80 innings over 19 appearances (15 starts).
Addison Barger
RF
The good news is Barger did not require a full Tommy John repair, which means he is expected to be ready in time for the start of spring training as long as his rehab proceeds smoothly. Barger played only nine games for the Blue Jays this season due to injuries.
Jonatan Clase
LF
Clase was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's contest due to foot discomfort, and the issue will now cause him to miss a second consecutive start. Yohendrick Pinango will start in left field and bat fifth while Clase recovers.
Anthony Santander
RF
Santander underwent surgery to repair his labrum back in February and has yet to resume swinging the bat. It's becoming increasingly unlikely that he plays this season. Signed to a five-year, $92.5 million deal following the 2024 season, Santander's tenure in Toronto has been a nightmare after he slashed just .175/.271/.294 across 54 games last regular season.
Jose Berrios
SP
The Blue Jays and Berrios went into the operation unsure whether the pitcher would require a ligament repair, and as it turns out he required a full UCL procedure. Berrios has been sidelined all season with elbow problems and will now likely be shelved until at least the second half of the 2027 campaign.
Cody Ponce
SP
Ponce sprained his right ACL in late March, which was a severe enough injury to require season-ending surgery, but he should be available for the start of spring training. He signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Blue Jays in December after spending three seasons in Japan. Ponce's start against the Rockies on March 30 -- when he suffered his injury -- was his first appearance in an MLB game since 2021, when he played with the Pirates.
Bowden Francis
SP
Francis will miss the entire 2026 season after the Blue Jays recently revealed that he would need reconstructive surgery on his right elbow, so his move to the 60-day IL was merely procedural. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Ben Cowles, whom the Blue Jays claimed off waivers from the Cubs.
