Chase DeLauter
RF
DeLauter was forced to depart Tuesday's contest versus the Dodgers after fouling a ball off his left foot. X-rays came back negative, but with the Guardians having an off day looming Thursday, it makes sense to hold DeLauter out Wednesday for the final game of the road trip. Angel Martinez will patrol right field and bat second for Cleveland in the rubber match.
Hunter Gaddis
RP
Gaddis, who began a rehab assignment March 28, made his second appearance while with the Clippers. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt told MLB.com that Gaddis needs to be built up to the point where the right-hander can reduce the time off between outings.
George Valera
RF
Valera was cleared to begin playing in games toward the end of spring training, and he'll now play a few more rehab contests in the minors before coming off the IL. Once healthy, he will either serve as a reserve outfielder for the big club or be optioned to Triple-A.
Andrew Walters
RP
The right-hander is working his way back from last year's lat surgery and has progressed to throwing live bullpen sessions. Walters will need at least a handful of rehab games before being cleared to make his season debut for the Guardians.
Carlos Hernandez
RP
Hernandez is still sporting a cast on his injured arm and is walking with the assistance of a crutch just over a month after the accident, so he doesn't appear likely to take part in spring training workouts anytime soon. The 28-year-old right-hander signed a minor-league deal with Cleveland in November and is expected to settle into the bullpen at Triple-A Columbus once he fully recovers from his injuries.
