Davis Martin
SP
Martin was placed on the 15-day injured list last week with a blister on his right middle finger. Though he might only need one rehab start from a physical standpoint, Martin's struggles over the last several weeks could allow the White Sox to keep him on his rehab assignment longer than that.
Kyle Teel
C
Teel continues to make progress in his recovery from a left high-ankle sprain that he sustained shortly after the All-Star break. The next step in his program is to embark on a rehab assignment, at which point the White Sox will have a better idea of when Teel could return to the majors, which could be as soon as early September.
Drew Thorpe
SP
Coming back from April 2025 Tommy John surgery, Thorpe has generally looked sharp since kicking off his rehab assignment July 18. Over stops with four different minor-league affiliates, Thorpe has strung together a 2.65 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB in 17 innings. After tossing 76 pitches in Wednesday's outing, Thorpe looks to be fully stretched out, add while the White Sox have an opening in the rotation, the right-hander may not be at the top of the list to fill the void, as Jose Urquidy and Jonathan Cannon have both pitched well of late at Triple-A. He has minor-league options remaining, so the White Sox could stash him at Charlotte once his rehab window closes and he needs to be activated from the 60-day injured list.
Joey Bart
C
Bart's hand was hit by a pitch during Thursday's game against Boston. The veteran catcher is set to be sidelined until at least mid-September, and how he progresses in his recovery program will determine whether he'll be back in action with the White Sox before the conclusion of the 2026 season. With Kyle Teel also sidelined until at least September due to a left high-ankle sprain, Drew Romo and Edgar Quero will handle catching duties for the White Sox moving forward.
Chris Murphy
RP
Murphy will make his second start of the season but is expected to work just one or two innings before bulk reliever Erick Fedde takes over. Through 18 appearances with Chicago, Murphy has compiled a 3.79 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB across 19 innings.
Jordan Leasure
RP
Leasure has been sidelined since late May with a right flexor strain. He was able to resume bullpen sessions in late July, and he is expected to return at some point in August. However, he will almost certainly need a rehab assignment, so he may not be activated until late in the month.
Prelander Berroa
RP
After recovering from his March 7, 2025 Tommy John surgery, Berroa began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on May 13 but threw just four pitches in that appearance before being shut down due to right elbow inflammation. The 26-year-old has seemingly responded well to treating the injury with rest and rehab over the past two months and will soon begin ramping up his throwing. Berroa is unlikely to be an option for the White Sox bullpen until August.
Ky Bush
SP
Bush suffered a setback in his recovery from Tommy John surgery in late May and had been ruled out until the second half of the season. It seems clear he won't return at any point in July, but he has at least resumed his rehab process.
Mike Vasil
RP
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Dustin Harris, who was called up from Triple-A Charlotte. Vasil underwent Tommy John surgery in March and will be sidelined until around the middle of the 2027 season.
Tanner Murray
LF
The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Randal Grichuk, who signed a one-year major-league deal with the White Sox on Monday. Murray suffered a left shoulder dislocation and fracture while making a diving catch in left field against the Nationals in late April. His recovery timeline was initially set at 4-to-6 months, which means he won't be available to return until at least late August.
Brooks Baldwin
LF
The transaction is merely a formality, as Baldwin is already slated to miss the rest of the season after undergoing internal brace surgery on his right elbow last Wednesday. The utility player will cede his spot on the White Sox's 40-man roster to left-hander Tyler Schweitzer, who was called up from Triple-A Charlotte.
