Randy Vasquez
SP
no
David Morgan
RP
Morgan has been on the IL since late June due to soreness in his left knee. The righty reliever had been pitching pretty well prior to getting hurt, posting a 2.08 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with an 11:2 K:BB over 8.2 innings spanning seven appearances since the calendar flipped to June. Morgan isn't expected to return to San Diego by the All-Star break, but he could be activated before the end of July.
Freddy Fermin
C
Fermin served as the Chihuahuas' designated hitter, contributing an RBI single in one of his four trips to the dish. The 31-year-old is working his way back from a head bruise and is tracking toward being activated at the start of the second half.
Samad Taylor
LF
Taylor noted that he's day-to-day, so although he'll begin Wednesday's contest on the bench, he doesn't seem to be dealing with a significant injury. The 27-year-old has gone 4-for-12 with a pair of runs scored through his first five games of July, though he's begun to see a drop in playing time recently.
Jason Adam
RP
While Adam looks to have avoided a significant injury, the righty reliever will need more than the minimum 15 days to recover from the shoulder strain that forced him to the shelf last week and won't be ready to rejoin the San Diego bullpen coming out of the All-Star break. A 2025 All-Star selection, Adam's numbers have taken a slight step back in 2026, but he's still proven to be a reliable setup man in front of closer Mason Miller. The 34-year-old posted a 2.51 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB while notching two wins, two saves and 17 holds over 32.1 innings in his 36 appearances before landing on the injured list.
Jeremiah Estrada
RP
Estrada is in the midst of his second IL stint of the season, as he previously missed just under a month earlier in the campaign due to elbow tendinitis. The right-hander has had a slower recovery than expected from right knee inflammation, but his ability to get back on the mound represents a major step forward in the recovery process. He's expected to throw a couple more bullpen sessions this week before he resumes facing hitters after the All-Star break.
Lucas Giolito
SP
Giolito has been sidelined since June 21 due to right elbow inflammation. While he's been able to return to playing catch. the veteran right-hander hasn't yet thrown from a mound. Giolito is unlikely to be activated from the IL until after the All-Star break.
Nick Pivetta
SP
Pivetta likely didn't incorporate all of his pitchers or throw at full intensity, but the bullpen session is a step forward nonetheless as he works his way back from a flexor strain. The right-hander will need to complete multiple side sessions before advancing to facing hitters in live batting practice and eventually heading out on an extended rehab assignment. The Padres haven't pinpointed a target date for his return, but Pivetta's stay on the 60-day injured list will likely be extended through at least late July or early August.
Joe Musgrove
SP
After making one appearance during spring training in early March, Musgrove experienced inflammation in his surgically repaired right elbow. He continued to play catch but was then shut down from even that amount of throwing. Musgrove has since been cleared to resume light throwing, but he doesn't appear to be anywhere near game action. He isn't expected to be ready to join the Padres until after the All-Star break.
Ramon Laureano
LF
Manager Craig Stammen said that Laureano's surgery is expected to keep him out for 4-to-5 months, making it extremely unlikely that he plays again this season. If the 31-year-old isn't able to make it back before the end of the year, he'll finish 2026 with a .203/.286/.374 slash line alongside seven homers, 21 RBI, 23 runs and seven steals over 53 games. Gavin Sheets will likely take over as San Diego's primary left fielder for the rest of the regular season, which will allow Ty France to start regularly at first base.
Yu Darvish
SP
Though the Padres are currently stashing Darvish on the restricted list rather than the injured list, the 39-year-old righty is slated to miss the entire 2026 season after undergoing an internal brace procedure on his pitching arm in Oct. 29. Just over six months into what will likely be a 12-to-15-month recovery process, Darvish seems to be progressing as expected, and he'll likely advance to throwing off a mound and potentially facing hitters before the end of the season. Darvish still has two years remaining on his contract after this season, but retirement could be a possibility if he doesn't feel he can compete at a high level once he completes his recovery from surgery.
Bryan Hoeing
RP
The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Lucas Giolito, who signed a one-year deal with San Diego. Hoeing will miss the entire 2026 season after having surgery in March to repair his flexor tendon.
